Fleet management software — anyone integrated with their IT vendor for this?

We're looking at fleet management software (GPS, maintenance scheduling, driver logs). Some of them are cloud-based SaaS and some need on-premise setup. Our IT vendor currently handles our general systems but hasn't dealt with fleet software before. Is it better to get your IT vendor involved or go direct with the fleet software company's support team?

For most cloud-based fleet SaaS (Samsara, Verizon Connect, Fleetio, etc.), you don't really need your IT vendor involved — the setup is mostly handled by the fleet software company and it's all web-based. Where your IT vendor adds value is making sure the tablets/devices in the trucks are enrolled in MDM (mobile device management) so you can remotely wipe them if one goes missing.

Roger from Cascade Fleet — from the maintenance side, Fleetio is what most of our customers integrate with and it's genuinely low-friction to set up. Your drivers use an app, the system flags upcoming maintenance, and the shop (us) gets a work order. No real IT involvement needed.

Cascade! I've been meaning to look into your maintenance programs. Do you work with fleets in San Antonio or primarily Pacific Northwest?

Primarily Portland/PNW right now, but we're looking at expanding to TX market in Q3. I'll add you to our early-access list for that.
